John L. Norsworthy Jr.
John Larry Norsworthy Jr., 35, husband of Eleanor Virginia “Ellen” Cox Norsworthy, died suddenly Thursday, May 31, 2007, at his home.
Born May 10, 1972, in Sumter, he was a son of John Larry Norsworthy Sr. and Mildred McLeod Norsworthy. He was a maintenance mechanic for Bosch Braking Systems for 13 years. He was an active member of Paxville United Methodist Church and the recipient of the Journeyman’s certificate.
Surviving besides his wife of Manning are infant son, Jordan Tucker Norsworthy; his mother, Mildred McLeod Norsworthy of Sumter; his father and stepmother, John Larry and Teri Norsworthy Sr., of Summerton; a sister, Lea Norsworthy of Sumter; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gary and Virginia Cox of Sumter; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Griff and Jennifer Cox and their children, Garrett and Ashlyn, of Warner Robbins, Ga.; two uncles, Charles (Von) Norsworthy of Sumter, and Jimmy (Linda) McLeod of Lexington; two aunts, Ann (Elwood) Nichols of Forest Park, Ga., and Sara (Johnny) Berry of McDonough, Ga.; cousins, Beth Norsworthy McDaniel and Elaine Brogdon, both of Sumter, Mike McLeod and Lori Harmon, both of Lexington; Gayle Mixon and Brad Strickland, both of Locust Grove, Ga., Stan Berry and Lori Wilder, both of McDonough, Ga., and Phyllis Reinig of Georgia; and a niece, Andrea Killman of Manning.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Butner and Peggy Norsworthy; maternal grandparents, Wilson “Bill” and Daisy McLeod; and his uncle, Paul McLeod.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 3, 2007, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning with the Rev. Emily Allen officiating.
Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Park in Sumter.
Pallbearers were Frank Mishoe, Mike McLeod, W.J. Brown, Charlie Brownlee, Mark Carver, Brad Strickland, Eric Shumpert and Ryan Shumpert.
Honorary pallbearers were Donnie Shumpert, Kenny Shumpert, Brian Carver, Jimmy McLeod, Rantz Killman and Shannon Killman.
