Joseph M. Carraway Jr.
Joseph “Jofie” Marshall Carraway Jr., 51, husband of Sandra Browder Carraway, died Monday, May 7, 2007 in Greenville, Miss.
Born in Sumter, he was a son of Dorothy Louise Lomax Carraway and the late Joseph Marshall Carraway Sr. Mr. Carraway was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Oswego and was a member of the Certified Cotton Gin Association. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Korea.
Surviving are his wife of Summerton; his mother of Sumter; a son, Cotton Carraway of Florida; a daughter, Denna Carraway (Timmy) Grimsley of Coward; two brothers, Louie Carraway and Wayne Carraway, both of Sumter; two sisters, Paige (Greg) Sirois of Florida and Connie (Junior) Johnson of Effingham; four grandchildren, Austin Grimsley, Bailey Grimsley, Lucas Carraway and Kristan Carraway; and four sisters-in-law, Gail McIntosh, Paula Craig, Cindy Martin and Marie Coker.
Funeral services were held on Friday, May 11, 2007, at Bethel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roger Dodd officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Cotton Carraway, Randy Cubbage, Benny Altman, George McFaddin, Richard Wheeler and Scott Lemonds.
Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and Crematory of Sumter was in charge of the arrangements.
