Marjorie G. McElveen
Marjorie Green McElveen, 65, died Thursday, April 26, 2007, at the home of her daughter in Sumter.
Born in Florence County on Nov. 4, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Jace Green Sr. and Ruth McDowell Green. She was also the wife of Ebb McElveen. She attended the public schools of Olanta (Florence County), and was a member of Saint Mark Baptist Church. She was a retired housekeeper and cook.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: three children, one son, Sean (Sandra Barrow) McElveen; and two daughters, Patricia M. Prince and Patrina M. (Corey) Washington, all of Sumter; five sisters, Macy Goodman and Nell Durant, both of Olanta, Annie Ruth Sower of Florence, Mary (Levern) Williams and Hattie McCrea, both of Patterson, N.J.; one brother, Jace (Carrie Dell) Green Jr., and one stepbrother, Johnnie Player, both of Olanta; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Gardiena McElveen of Georgia, Fannie Cromartie of Raleigh, N.C., and Preal Mae Thomas of Olanta; a special companion, George Hampton of Gable; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, from the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home Inc. in Sumter, with the Rev. Emma Wells officiating, eulogist.
Pallbearers were friends of the family.
Flower bearers were friends of the family.
Williams Funeral Home Inc. of Sumter was in charge of the arrangements.
