Willis Cecil Barrett
COLUMBIA–Willis Cecil Barrett, 83, husband of Louise Clegg Barrett, died Wednesday, May 2, 2007. Born in Manning, he was a son of the late Charlie Bass and Mary Lloyd Barrett.
He served in the U.S. Army, where he was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict and received the Good Conduct Medal and the Bronze Star. He enjoyed cooking, gardening and reading.
Mr. Barrett was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia and retired from Civil Service at Fort Jackson.
Survivors are his wife; sisters, Dorothy Coker of Alcolu, Mary Emily Tennant of Sumter and Margaret Windham of Darlington; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Barrett, Mary Barrett, Marjorie Kammer, Elizabeth Clegg and Mary Clegg; brother-in-law, Ervine Clegg and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, Sam Barrett, Harry Barrett, Charles Barrett, Liston Barrett and James Barrett; and sisters, Virginia Streete, Grace Hodge and Louise Barrett.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 5, 2007, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.
Burial followed in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
