In honor of his 80th birthday, Ted Gardner, known to his friends and family as “Mr. Clemson,” was presented with a Senate proclamation by Sen. John Land. Pictured here with his wife, Peggy, Gardner was honored with a reception on Sunday, April 27 at New Covenant Church. Special guest of honor was THE Clemson Tiger.
Three outstanding Laurence Manning Academy athletes signed letters of intent last Wednesday morning. Drew Wachter (left) signed to play baeball at Francis Marion University. Megan Crandall (center) signed to play both softball and soccer at USC-Sumter and Lauren Peterson will join Crandall on the USC-Sumter softball field. As Headmaster Spencer Jordan reminded the upper school student body assembled for the occasion, “It takes much more than just athletics to receive these scholarships; it takes outstanding academics as well.”

Manning Mayor Kevin L. Johnson visited the third graders at Manning Primary School on April 23, 2008. He read a favorite children’s book entitled Alexander, Who Used to be Rich Last Sunday by Judith Viorst. He talked to the children about the importance of working, planning and using your money wisely. Every third grade child was given their own copy of the book.
