Earl Samuels
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Earl “Pete” Samuels, 62, husband of Joann Samuels, died April 20, 2007, at Brookdale Hospital, Brooklyn.
Born Sept. 11, 1944, in the Foreston section of Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Albert L. Samuels Sr. and Cora Rogers Samuels.
He received his formal education in the public schools of Clarendon. In his youth, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior at Holy Rock Holiness Church, where he attended faithfully. After moving to New York, Earl continued to serve Jesus Christ at Calvary UFW Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Earl Samuels Jr., Charles Edwards, Tyrone Edwards and James Samuels; seven daughters, Rozella Samuels, Earlene Edwards, Gladys Edwards, Tracy Edwards, Janelle Edwards, Corartha Edwards and Cornelia Samuels; three sisters, Donna Everette and Alberta L. Hayes, both of Newport News, Va., and Clara Bell Cochran of Walterboro; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Albert Samuels Jr. and Alphonsa Samuels; and one sister, Susie Sanders.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 28, 2007, at the Hayes F. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel in Manning, with the Rev. Northern Miller, presiding, Elder Willie Johnson, eulogist.
Burial was in Muldrow Cemetery, Kingstree Highway, Manning.
Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning was in charge of arrangements.
