Anna Mae S. Murray
Anna Mae Stroy Murray, 63, wife of Alfred Murray, died April 20, 2007, at Providence Hospital, Columbia.
Born March 31, 1944, in the Bloomville section of Clarendon County, she was a daughter of Magnolia Spry Stroy and the late James Stroy. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Savior and joined Holly Hill Missionary Baptist Church and later Holy Rock Holiness Church, where she served as secretary, a member of the senior choir, vice president of the missionary department, usher board, and secretary for the Union of the True Church of the Living God. She received her education in the public schools of Clarendon County. She was employed by Tuomey Healthcare System, Sumter, Clarendon School District 2 and Wateree Community Action Agency, Manning.
Survivors include her husband, Alfred Murray of the home; her mother, Magnolia Spry Stroy of Manning; three daughters, Christina (Marvin) Williams and Cynthia (Lester) Doughty, both of Manning, and Cassandra (Yvette) Murray of Fort Mill; one adopted brother, Deacon Willie L. (Lula) Thompson of Manning; two sisters, Emily (Roy) Brown of Manning and Pamela (Clark) Fields of Columbia; one adopted sister, Etha Mae Thompson of Manning; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Willie S. Stroy.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at Hayes F. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel in Manning, with the Rev. O’Donald Dingle, pastor, officiating, assisting Overseer Elder Early Singletary, the Rev. Fred Snyder, the Rev. Shirley Dickey and Minister Harry Robinson.
Burial was in the Holly Hill Missionary Baptist Church cemetery.
Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning was in charge of arrangements.
