Pernell Briggs Sr.
Pernell “Nie” Briggs Sr., 75, of Rimini, entered eternal rest on Saturday, April 21, 2007, at his home.
Born Nov. 15, 1931, in Clarendon County, he was the son of Susan Richardson Briggs and the late George Briggs and husband of Camillia King Briggs. He was educated in the public schools of Clarendon County. At an early age, he joined Greater St. Phillip RMUE Church in Pinewood, where he was a faithful member, until his health failed. He retired from Georgia Pacific Corp. after many years of dedicated service.
Mr. Briggs is survived by his wife, Camillia King Briggs of the home; his mother, Susan Richardson Briggs of Rimini; two sons, Pernell Briggs Jr. and Kenneth Lee Briggs of Rimini; four daughters, Linda B. (Wilbur) King and Beverly (Elijah) Briggs, both of Rimini, Georgia Mae Briggs of Hartford, Conn., and Afelia Briggs of Pinewood; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Larry Briggs.
Funeral services were held on Friday, April 27, 2007, at Greater St. Phillip RMUE Church, Pinewood, with the Rev. Warren Hatcher, pastor, and the Rev. Eloise Pompey.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Community Funeral Home of Sumter was in charge of arrangements.
