Cleveland Brailsford
Senior Airman Cleveland Brailsford, 29, husband of Melissa Lawson Brailsford, died April 23, 2007, at Palmetto Health Richland, Columbia.
Born Jan. 30, 1978, in Clarendon County, he was a son of Mary Richardson Brailsford and the late Clarence “Cleve” Brailsford. He received his formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County School District 1 and graduated from Scott’s Branch High School Class of 1997. He joined the U.S. Air Force and entered active duty Feb. 11, 1998. He was with the 3rd Equipment Maintenance Squadron, was the document control monitor and was assigned to the 23rd Maintenance Squadron. He received the Air Force Achievement Medal for outstanding achievement as document controller.
Survivors besides his loving wife, Melissa L. Brailsford of the home, include his mother, Mary R. Brailsford; his grandparents, Jeremia and Carrie Brailsford of Summerton; one son, TreQuan Jacauri Brailsford of Summerton; one daughter, Taryn Natalia Figueroa of Bronx, N.Y.; two brothers, Bryan Jahleel Brailsford of Summerton and Frankie Johnson of Elizabeth City, N.C.; one sister, Sara Megan Brailsford of Columbia; loving mother-in-law, Susan Lawson of Summerton; father-in-law; godmother, Annie Mae Richardson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; several aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 28, 2007, at Historical Liberty Hill AME Church in Summerton, with the Rev. Melvin Capers, pastor, and the Rev. James Blanding, eulogist.
Burial was in Liberty Hill AME Church cemetery.
Pallbearers were the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.
Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning was in charge of arrangements.
