Rhunette Ragin
Rhunette Wilson Henry Ragin died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Clarendon County on Feb. 16, 1948, she was a daughter of the late Willie Lee Wilson and Lillie Mae Johnson Wilson. Her education was obtained in the public schools of Clarendon County. At an early age, she joined St. John Baptist Church, Bloomville. She later joined Historic Liberty Hill AME Church, Summerton, where she was an ardent worker and a member of several auxiliaries.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed with Becton Dickinson for 25 years and later J.C. Penney of Sumter.
Rhunette was married to James Henry Sr. until his death in 1976. She later married Harold Ragin.
Survivors include her loving and devoted husband, Harold Ragin of Sumter; son, James Henry Jr. of Sumter; three daughters, Marilyn Henry and Annette Henry, both of Sumter, and Debresia S. (Quincy) Jones of El Paso, Texas; a stepdaughter, Shaun M. Ragin of Sumter; a brother, Joe (Annette) Thompson of Sumter; four sisters, Annie Dell Jackson and Alice Stine (Eugene) Watson of Sumter, Willie Mae Pringle of Manning and Lillian Wilson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
A brother, Harry Wilson, and two sisters, Chinese Simon and Ernestine Boatwright, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 28, 2008, at Historic Liberty Hill AME Church with Dr. Charles Young, interim pastor, officiating, Elder Malachi Duncan, eulogist; assisted by the Revs. Edythe DeLaine, David Pugh and Martha Richburg.
Burial was in the Historic Liberty Hill AME Church cemetery.
Fleming and DeLaine Funeral Home and Chapel of Manning was in charge of these arrangements.
