Lester James McFadden

COLUMBIA – Lester James McFadden, 43, husband of Jodie Demarr McFadden, died Monday, April 21, 2008, at Palmetto Health Richland, Columbia.

Born July 4, 1964, in Manning, he was a son of Mattie Leola Brown McFadden and the late Robert David McFadden Jr. He received his formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County. He was a 1982 graduate of East Clarendon High School, Turbeville. At an early age, he joined Howard Chapel AME Church. He attended Sunday school and sang in the choir. He was employed by the city of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Santee Print Works of Sumter for a number of years.

Survivors include his wife, Jodie D. McFadden of New Zion; three daughters, Ashley and Kiara McFadden of New Zion and Jada McFadden of Fort Lauderdale; two stepchildren, Kimberly Kastrow of Washington, D.C., and Jamie Kastrow of Orlando, Fla.; his mother, Mattie McFadden; four sisters, Leola (Eugene) Kennedy and Cynthia Ceasar, both of New Zion, Mary L. (Donnie) Curtis and Barbara A. McFadden, both of Fort Lauderdale; and six brothers, Alvin Brown, Cleo (Doris) McFadden, Ronald McFadden and Johnny B. McFadden, all of New Zion, Horace (Johnnie) McFadden of Sumter and Willie (Joann) Player of Bennettsville.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Howard Chapel AME Church, New Zion, with the Rev. Alfred Bradley, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Revs. Jerome McCray and Lucious Wheeler and the Rev. Dr. Johnnie McFadden.

Burial followed in the Old McFadden Cemetery, Turbeville.

Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
