Andrew Jackson Ammons Jr.
Andrew Jackson “Red” Ammons, Jr., 68, died Sunday, April 15, 2007, in Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning.
Born March 21, 1939, in Bryson City, N.C., he was a son of the late Andrew Jackson Ammons Sr. and the late Grace Lorraine Dehart Ammons. He was a member of the Army National Guard and was of the Protestant faith. He was formerly employed as a furniture worker.
Surviving are his wife, Jessie Mayzelle Fields Ammons of Summerton; three stepsons, Carl Turner of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Chris Turner of Florence and Craig Turner of Sumter; a stepdaughter, Sharon Miles of Summerton; and two brothers, Houston Ammons of Hickory, N.C. and James D. Ammons of Summerton.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 18, 2007, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning with the Rev. Kevin Cribb officiating.
Stephens Funeral Home and Crematory of Manning was in charge of arrangements.
