Bessie Iola Thigpen Amerson
Entered into eternal rest on the morning of April 10, 2007, Bessie Iola Thigpen Amerson, 86, the widow of Jack Middleton Amerson and a resident of Hnahan, S.C.
Mrs. Amerson was born on Dec. 22, 1920 in Manning, a daughter of the late Thomas Jackson Thigpen and Corrie Gladden Thigpen. She was a member of Remount Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Ann (Keith) Ashton Keith, of Gatlinburg, Tenn.; two sons, Harold (Sandra) Amerson of North Charleston and Randy Amerson of Hanahan; two sisters, Elizabeth Pack of Alcolu, and Frances Ardis of Manning; one brother, Arthur Thigpen of Manning; one granddaughter, Joy Foster of Boiling Springs, S.C.; three grandsons: Tony Ashton of Boiling Springs, Tony Gantt and Bradley Gantt, both of North Charleston; six great-grandchildren: Tanesha Byram, Marly Atkins, Braxton Gantt, Kayla Gantt, Kylie Gantt and Hayden Gantt; four great-great-grandchildren: Skyler Dunning, Maddison Byrum, Kane Byrum and Lena Byrum.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Faye Amerson and a son, Jacky Wayne Amerson.
Funeral services were held on Friday, April 13, 2007 at the J. Henry Stuhr Funeral Home, Greenridge Road Chapel in Charleston.
Interment followed in Carolina Memorial Park in North Charleston.
J. Henry Stuhr Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
