Rue Ingram Moore Jr.

ALBANY, N.Y.– Rue Ingram Moore Jr., age 80, died Friday April 11, 2008 after a long illness.

Mr. Moore was born on May 19, 1927 in Olanta, S.C. He was the son of the late Rue Ingram Moore Sr. and Wilma Lewis Moore. He was a graduate of The Citadel and Emory University. He was a long-time resident of Albany, N.Y. where he taught ethics and philosophy at the Medical University of Albany.

Survivors include two sons, Christopher (Carol) Moore of Illinois and Richard (Jeannette) Moore of Pennsylvania; a daughter, Claire (Greg) Merrill of Maryland; and six grandchildren, Henry, Ronnan, Elizabeth and Sean Moore and Parker and Paige Merrill.

Also surviving are four brothers, Wilmer L. “Duckie” (Miriam) Moore of Olanta, Houston (Joyce) Moore of Kingstree, Randolph (Jenny) Moore of Dana Point, Calif., Thomas H. (Peggy) Moore of Florence; and two sisters, Zilphia (Raymond) Gibbons of New Zion and Alvida (James) Evans of Olanta.

Memorial services were held in Blue Bell, Pa. on Wednesday, April 16, 2008.

Memorials be made to the Nazareth United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 368, Olanta, S.C. 29114.

Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta was in charge of the arrangements.
