Janet F. Simon

TROY, N.Y. – Janet Floreen Simon, 50, died March 31, 2007, at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, N.Y.

Born Dec. 22, 1956, in Troy, she was a daughter of Floreen Williams Simon and the late January “Jerry” Simon. In her youth, she accepted Christ as her Savior and joined Pine Grove AME Church. She received her formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County, attending Manning Training Schools and Manning High School.

Survivors besides her mother, Floreen W. Simon of Manning, includes five daughters, Lukesha Simon, Arie Simon, Jacqueline Pugh and Joanne Pugh, all of Troy, and Cleola Simon of Manning; two sisters, Nettiemae Williams and Elloree Rivers, both of Troy; and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on April 6, 2007, at the Hayes F. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel in Manning, with the Rev. Jerome McCray, pastor, officiating.

Burial was in Paxville Cemetery.

Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning was in charge of arrangements.
