Kathleen D. Welch
Kathleen D. Welch, 80, died Sunday, April 6, 2008, at a Summerton nursing facility after an illness.
Born in Florence County, she was a daughter of the late Ervin Driggers and Isabell Welch Driggers. She was retired from Turbeville Manufacturing Co., and she was a member of Turbeville First Baptist Church, where she received the Smyrna Award in 2003; the Dicey Gibbons Circle; the Joyce Rogers Circle; and was a church nursery worker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Hagood Welch; a brother, Junius (Junebug) Welch; a stepson, Dewey Welch; and a stepdaughter, Winnie Derelee Robinson.
Surviving are two daughters, Geraldine (Allen) Coker and Shirley (Pinky) Lee, both of Turbeville; four sons, Alex (Mary) Welch of New Zion; Bennie (Gail) Welch of Cades; Larry Mitchell Welch and Terry (Karen) Welch, both of Turbeville; two sisters, Mary Strickland of Olanta and Marcelle Paige of Mount Airy, Ga.; four stepsons, Hagood (Hickey) Welch and James Linwood (Shorty) Welch, both of Santee, Donald (Pearl) Welch of Paxville and Bill Welch of Georgia; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and 21 step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Turbeville First Baptist Church.
Burial was in Horse Branch Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Turbeville First Baptist Church or Lake Marion Nursing Home.
Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta was in charge of the arrangements.
