A. Clifton Hodge
Alexander Clifton Hodge, 85, widower of Ruby Geddings Hodge, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at NHC of Murrells Inlet.
Born May 15, 1921, in Alcolu, he was a son of the late Albert C. and Nannie Witherspoon Hodge. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Clarendon Baptist Church. Mr. Hodge was a former Clarendon County Sheriff’s Deputy, a retired probation and parole officer, and was a member of the Williams-Burgess American Legion Post No. 68 and the DAV.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara (Jim) Walker of Surfside Beach; two sisters, Anna Harris of Orangeburg and Arena (Bill) Perry of Manning; sisters-in-law, Martha Ann Spigner Hodge of Holly Hill and Catherine Bagnal of Mount Airy, N.C.; and grandsons, Michael and Brian Gamble, Robb Hodge and Badge Baker.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robbie Hodge; brothers, J.G. Hodge and David Hodge; and sisters, Mary Helen Pilchard and Frances Gause.
Funeral services were held on Friday, March 30, 2007, in Clarendon Baptist Church with the Revs. Kirk Carlisle and Norman Rogers officiating.
Burial followed in Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery.
