Carolyn S. Godwin

Carolyn Stone Godwin, 72, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2007, at a Darlington hospice facility.

Mrs. Godwin was born in Darlington, daughter of the late James Casper Stone and Ray Rhodes Stone. She was graduate of St. John’s High School and the University of South Carolina. Mrs. Godwin was a retired social worker for the state of South Carolina. She was a member of Summerton Baptist Church, where she had served as the church organist.

Surviving are two sons, Joharie “Joey” Larue (Sheree) Godwin Jr. of Summerton and James “Jim” Stone (Shannon) Godwin of Darlington; a daughter, Joanna (Tony) Hall of Florence; six grandchildren, Lauren Windham Godwin, Brittany Elizabeth Godwin, Joharie “J” Larue Godwin III, Peyton Austin Godwin, Merritt Victoria Hall and Anna-Leah Hall; and a brother James “Jim” Casper (Dot) Stone of Darlington.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Joharie Larue Godwin Sr.

Graveside services were held on Sunday, April 1, 2007 in Grove Hill Cemetery.
