Lucius Legrande Wells

Lucius Legrande “Luke” Wells, 88, died Sunday, March 30, 2008 at his home in Manning.

Born July 9, 1919, in Manning, he was a son of Joseph Legrande and Mary Roberta Wells Wells. He was a United States Army veteran of WWII, a member of Manning United Methodist Church, and the Men’s Bible Class, American Legion Williams-Burgess Post #68, Disabled American Veterans, and the Loyal Order of the Moose. He retired from the United States Department of Agriculture.

Surviving are three nieces, Mary Roberta Wells (Donald) Johnson of Sumter, Jo Anne Wells Davis of Greenville, and Elma Glenn Wells (Bob) Watt of Buhl, Idaho; two nephews, Robert Newton (Mary) Wells Jr. of Florence, and Glenn H. (Sara) Wells Jr. of Manning.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, in Manning United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Debra Quilling Smith officiating.

Burial followed in Manning Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Manning United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 68, Manning, S.C. 29102 or to the Men’s Bible Class of Manning United Methodist Church.

Stephens Funeral Home and Crematory of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
