James C. McDonald
James Chester McDonald, 72, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital.
Born March 28, 1935, in Manning, he was a son of the late David McDonald and the late Mary Mitchum McDonald.
His education was obtained in the public schools of Clarendon County. Later he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country proudly for six years oversees in France and North Africa as a military police. Following his honorable discharge, he lived in San Antonio, Texas, and Wilmington, Del., and retired in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he worked for several years with the Special Needs and Disabilities Board.
He was married to Annie Lois McDonald, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Tselane McDonald of Desoto, Texas; grandson, Kenneth Gibbs II of Desoto; devoted niece and nephews of the home, Hazel Moore, Norman Moorer and Isaac McKnight; and those who also assisted in his care, George A. Wilson, Sharon Miller and Louise Bennett.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 31, 2008, at Fleming-DeLaine Chapel in Manning, with the Rev. Bobby McDonald officiating, assisted by the Revs. David Pugh, Deloris Gerow, Ruth Pugh and Drusilla Harvin.
Burial followed in the Manning Cemetery.
Fleming and DeLaine Funeral Home and Chapel of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
