Mary A. Richardson-Hart
Mary Alice “Mae” Richardson-Hart, 59, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at her residence, 2970 Liberty Hill Road, Summerton.
Born Nov. 21, 1948, in the St. Paul section of Summerton, she was the daughter of the late Ludie Richardson and Sarah Jane Ragin-Richardson. She received her formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County and was a 1976 graduate of Scott’s Branch High School, Summerton. She accepted Christ as her Savior and joined Historic Liberty Hill AME Church, where she served faithfully until her health failed.
She is survived by two daughters, Deborah D. Hart of the home and Sheryl V. Richardson-Myers of Sumter; three sons, Christopher R. Hart and Danielle J. Hart, both of the home, and Anthony E. (Lisa) Richardson of Knoxville, Tenn.; two adopted daughters, Shirley (Joseph) Oliver of Davis Station and Paula (Ricky) Bryant of Summerton; one adopted son, James Bowman of Summerton; 15 sisters, Hennie Mae Adams of Winston-Salem, N.C., Deloris (Leroy) Lawson of Summerton, Juanita (Jerome) Oliver, Joyce Dingle, Helen Dingle, Ada Pearson and Lillie (Thornell) Brunson, all of Manning, Minnie (Lawrence) Hammett, Roberta (Richard) Gibson of Sumter, Daisy Ragin of Bronx, N.Y., Mary Lee Ragin of Miami, Fla., Dorothy Ragin and Susan Ragin of Summerton, Stephanie (Stacey) Brailsford of Miami and Albertha Ragin of Summerton, who was like a second mother; 12 grandchildren; and a very special niece and caretaker, Denetrell Mitchell.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 31, 2008, at Historical Liberty Hill AME Church, Summerton, with Elder Malachi Duncan officiating, assisted by the Rev. James Brunson.
Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
