Minnie R. Briggs
Minnie R. Briggs, 61, died Monday, March 24, 2008, at Lake Marion Nursing Facility in Summerton, after an extended illness.
Born Aug. 31, 1946, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Susan Montgomery Belser and the late Sam David Belser. She received her formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County.
Minnie was predeceased by two daughters, Brenda Frierson and Karen Briggs; a son, Jerry Briggs; five brothers; and two sisters.
Those left to grow from her love are two sons, Albert Belser and Tyrone Briggs, both of Summerton; a daughter, Linda Briggs of Manning; two granddaughters, Lakeisha (Joel) Nelson and Precious Briggs, both of Manning; four great-grandchildren; seven brothers, Henry (Rosa) Belser, Charlie Belser, Booker T. Belser, all of Summerton, Moses Belser of Manning, James Belser of Sumter, Elijah (Bessie) Belser and James (Deloris) Parker, both of Charlotte; four sisters, Laura Johnson and Sarah Lowery, both of Summerton, Mary Boatwright of Sumter and Rosa Childs of Bartow, Fla.; an uncle, Richard “Boo” Brown of Summerton; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Ms. Briggs were held on Saturday, March 29, 2008, at the chapel of Summerton Funeral Service with the Rev. Franklin McCants officiating.
Burial followed in Ivory Cemetery in the Davis Station community.
Summerton Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
