Margaret Terrell Walker Everett
Margaret Terrell “Peggy” Walker Everett, 82, of Summerton, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Clarendon Memorial Hospital.
Born on Aug. 21, 1925, in Summerton, she was a daughter of the late Claude Townes Walker and Norma Wilkins Walker. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Irby and Alice Ezelle Walker of Summerton, and her maternal grandparents were the Honorable John Terrell and Mary Elizabeth Smith Wilkins of Hendersonville, N.C. She was a 1946 graduate of Winthrop College and remained an active alumna. After graduation she taught in the Columbia School System and in Summerton Elementary School and Clarendon Hall. She was a member of Summerton Baptist Church. She served as regent of the Elizabeth Peyre Richardson Manning Chapter of the DAR, and as president of the Summerton Pink Dogwood Garden Club. She was a former member of the Eastern Star and was also a member of the Julius A. Mood Post of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by a son, Henry Tindal Everett, Jr. of Summerton; two brothers, Claude Townes Walker Jr. and Thomas Irby Walker and his wife Norvelle Plowden Walker; nine nieces and three nephews, and a number of great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Thomas Carswell Everett; her only daughter, Margaret Walker Everett; her sister, Elizabeth Walker Garber and brother-in-law, Stanley Garber of Camden; and a sister-in-law, Beulah Pinner Walker of Summerton.
A private family committal service was held on Friday, March 14, 2008, in Summerton Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. Robert Ashba and the Rev. Robert Allen officiating.
She was laid to rest beside her husband, the late Henry Tindal Everett.
