Isabella B. Hawkins

PATERSON, N.J. – Isabella Black Hawkins, 74, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital, Paterson.

Born April 1, 1933, in Pineville, she was the daughter of the late Lila Dupree and reared by the late Israel and Geneva Dupree Black. She accepted Christ as her Savior and joined Christ Temple Baptist Church, where she served on the Golden Hearts Club. She was a member of Passaic County African Women 100-Plus. She was employed with the Christ Temple Baptist Church as head cook.

She is survived by four daughters, Linda E. Black and Barbara Hawkins of Paterson, Lila M. McDonald and Lorraine (Johnnie Jr.) Thompson, both of Manning; two sons, Randolph Hawkins of Greensboro, N.C., and Wilbur Miller of Manning.

Graveside services were held on Friday, March 7, 2008, at Muldrow Cemetery in Manning, with the Rev. Gregory C. Turner officiating.

Samuels Funeral Home of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
