The Clarendon Scene ... as seen in Clarendon

Members of Tracey White’s first grade class at the Manning Early Childhood Center show their parents what they learned about dancing the shag last Friday. The first graders at MECC got dance lessons and learned exercises that helped get them ready for the recital. All their parents joined in at the end and everybody got to dance the morning away. In celebration of National Children’s Dental Health Month, Smiles for a Lifetime Operations Director Georgia Fumuliner visited with K-5 classes at Summerton Early Childhood Center to talk to the kids about good dental hygiene. This group from Linda Conyers’ class listened intently as Famuliner talked about brushing and flossing.

More than 100 runners took off at Saturday’s Lake Marion Dam Run. Participants had the option of doing a 10K run, a 5K run or a 1-mile fun walk. With winds at 40 knots, the runners said that they had a tough go at making their best times. See the full story and winners in Thursday’s Manning Times. A runner in the 5K event, 9-year-old Quinn Hipp (left) runs for the finish line at the Lake Marion Dam Run last Saturday. Hipp was the youngest participant in the run.
