Simon Frank Jr.

Simon Frank Jr., 88, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 21, 1919, in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Simon Frank Sr. and Alma Frank.

Mr. Frank attended the public schools of Clarendon County. In his youth, he joined Liberty Hill AME Church. He met and married the late Lucille Frank. He was a hard worker and worked on a farm and was employed by Windsor Motel.

He is predeceased by a son, Hugh “Nip” Frank; a daughter, Daisy Frank Brown; a brother, Johnny Frank; and a sister; Ruby Stukes.

Those left to grow from his love and cherish his memory are three loving and devoted daughters, Catherine (James Sr.) Smythe and Mary (Joe Louis) Oliver, both of Summerton, and Delores Frank of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three sons, Silver (Rosa Mae) Holiday, Frank Holiday and Thomas Holiday; a sister, Maxine Nixon of Wilmington, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Ethel Oliver of Philadelphia, Pa.; 27 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; three special nieces, Dorothy Mickens, Thomasina Lawson and Peggy Drayton, all of New York; two dear friends, Helen Baxter and Julia Lee Singleton, both of Summerton; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 5, 2007, at Liberty Hill AME Church in Summerton, with the Rev. Dr. Melvin Jerome Capers officiating.

Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Summerton Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
