Annie Bell L. Wright

Annie Bell “Momma” Logan Wright, 91, widow of James “Daddy” Wright Sr., passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born in Clarendon County on Aug. 24, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Major Logan and Sophia Capers Logan. She was educated in the public schools of Clarendon County and a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors are her children, two sons, Herbert (Bertha) Wright and David Wright, both of Sumter, and a daughter, Edna Mae (Leon) Swinton of Sumter; 21 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and 46 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sons, Bernie Wright, Thomas Wright and James Wright Jr.; two daughters, Mildred Wright and Dorothy James; two granddaughters, Pamela Brown and Deloris Logan; and a great-grandson, Antionio Brown.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Greater Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in Sumter with the pastor, Dr. Marvin Hodge Sr., and Bishop Leroy T. James.

Burial followed in Bradford Cemetery, Sumter.

Community Funeral Home of Sumter was in charge of the arrangements.
