Johnnie Lemon
Johnnie Lemon, 83, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at his residence.
Born Aug. 28, 1924, in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Elliott and Meta Bannister Lemon. His education was obtained in the public schools of Clarendon County, and he furthered his education at a trade school and became a master shoe repairer.
Survivors include a son, John Solomon of Summerton; three daughters, Luvivian (John) Holiday of Sumter, Rebecca (Wendell) Rora of Florida and Janet of Summerton; a brother, Jacob (Willie Mae) Lemon of Baltimore, Md.; six sisters, Hessie Martin and Neomi (Willie) Thames, all of Manning, Claudine Lincoln and Louise James, both of Brooklyn, N.Y., Ella Hamilton of Baltimore and Plummie (Elliott) Kelly of Alcolu; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Elliott, Easua and Frank.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 2, 2008, at St. John Baptist Church, Silver community of Manning, with the Rev. David Pugh officiating and the Rev. Dr. C. Richburg, pastor.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Fleming and DeLaine Funeral Home and Chapel of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
