Jay Terry has been named Director of Pharmacy at Clarendon Health System, overseeing the distribution of medications to patients at Clarendon Memorial Hospital, as well as three CHS owned nursing homes.
The announcement of Terry’s selection was made by Eleyce Winn, Assistant Administrator.
“Jay comes to us with 20 years of hospital and retail pharmacy experience,” said Winn. “His varied background and desire to serve others makes him a great addition to our leadership team.”
Prior to joining Clarendon Health System, Terry worked in different pharmacy roles at McLeod Health and Tuomey Regional Medical Center, as well as serving as co-owner of Professional Pharmacy Services.
“My interest in pharmacy work was sparked years ago as a child,” said Terry. “When my grandmother became sick, she moved in with our family, and I would watch her take her medicine at the kitchen table. I wanted to know about the different types of medicines she was taking and what they would do to make her better.”
Terry and his wife, Teresa, have five children, and are active in their children’s schools and at their church, Highland Park Methodist in Florence.
“Clarendon Health System gives me a unique opportunity to practice both my clinical and managerial skills. The high level of care provided in a small town setting is the perfect situation for me,” added Terry.
“We are pleased to bring someone of Jay’s caliber to lead our pharmacy,” said Edward R. Frye, Chief Executive Officer of Clarendon Health System. “The combined number of patients from our hospital and nursing homes is quite large, and it takes an outstanding manager like Jay to meet the needs of our patients, our medical staff, the insurance companies and others involved in delivering quality healthcare to the people we serve.” |
