Dorothy Bozard Fowler
Dorothy Bozard Fowler, 91, formerly of Greenville, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 at McCall Hospice House. Mrs. Fowler resided at Westminster Retirement Residences since 2006.
Born in Orangeburg, she was the daughter of the late Lucius Warren and Viola Estelle Rickenbaker Bozard and widow of Fred Lybrand Fowler.
Mrs. Fowler received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Furman University and took graduate courses through the University of South Carolina. She retired as a teacher from Greenville County School District and Christ Church Episcopal School. She was a member of the National Honorary Teachers Organization and Alpha Delta Kappa.
Mrs. Fowler was a member of The Greenville Women’s Club and Buncombe St. United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Robert Morris Class, UMW, Archives, Long Range Planning Committee and Board of Stewards.
Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Kirby Kittredge Fowler Johnstone; three grandchildren, Frederick Lybrand Fowler III, Catharine Schrader Fowler and John Bozard Fowler; and six great-grandchildren, Caroline Margaret, Kirby, Freddy, Lilly, and Jack Fowler.
Mrs. Fowler was preceded in death by a son, Dr. Fred Lybrand Fowler Jr. in 1978 and a sister, Adele Coffey, of Manning.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at Buncombe St. United Methodist Church.
Entombment followed in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
