Booker T. Fleming Sr.
Booker T. Fleming Sr., 88, husband of Everlena Bennett Fleming, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at Dorn VA Medical Center, Columbia.
Born July 9, 1919, in the Biggers community of Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Vander Fleming Sr. and Anna Dupree Fleming. He attended the public schools of Clarendon County. He accepted Christ as his Savior and joined Biggers AME Church and was a lifelong member. He was a veteran, having served in World War II, and was honorably discharged in 1946. After his discharge, he became a farmer, until his retirement in 2005.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, four sisters and one son, Stanley Fleming.
He is survived by his wife, Everlena Bennett Fleming of the home; four sons, Booker T. Fleming Jr. of Miami, Fla., Milton (Carolyn) Fleming, Dave (Lottie) Fleming and Windell (Rosa) Fleming, all of Manning; three daughters, Shirley Canty and Bobbie Wilson, both of Manning, and Liddia (Earl) Wilson of Miami; one sister, Everlena Green of Charleston; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one special niece, Helena Fleming of Manning; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at Biggers AME Church in Manning, with the Rev. Andrew Jordan, pastor, officiating, the Rev. D. Harvin, presiding, assisting Evangelist Dora Dyson and the Rev. Mattie Mouzon.
Burial followed in the Muldrow cemetery.
Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
