Mary Sue M. Edwards

Mary Sue McDaniel Edwards, 61, died at Tuomey Regional Medical Center on Feb. 9, 2008.

Born Jan. 29, 1947, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of Rosa Lee Williams McDaniel and the late George McDaniel. She was the widow of James Edwards Sr. She received her education in the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Lincoln High School. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church.

Her loving and fond memories will be cherished by her son, James (Paula) Edwards Jr. of Sumter; her mother, Rosa Williams McDaniel of Sumter; four grandchildren, Tytiana Amari Edwards of Manning, Deonna Wright and Mya and Samantha Rhodes, all of Sumter; five brothers, Matthew McDaniel of Paterson, N.J., Elijah (Peggy) McDaniel of Philadelphia, Pa., Deacon David (Janie Mae) McDaniel, Roosevelt (Margaret) McDaniel and Henry (Cynthia) McDaniel, all of Sumter; one sister, Dorothy (Barry) Potter of Huntsville, Ala.; one adopted brother, Harold C. Scriven of Paterson.

In addition to her father, George McDaniel Sr., and husband, James Edwards Sr., she was preceded in death by one brother, George McDaniel Jr.; two sisters, Annie Mae McDaniel and Eloise McDaniel; her mother-in-law, Gracie Edward; and a sister-in-law, Gloria McDaniel.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at Bible Way World Wide with Bishop John D. Belton.

Burial followed in Bradford Cemetery in Sumter.

Community Funeral Home of Sumter was in charge of these arrangements.
