Robertson drops out of council race
By Cathy Gilbert

Former Manning Mayor Jerry Robertson announced Friday that he would withdraw his candidacy for the Clarendon County Council.

“Now that A.C. English has stepped up, I feel I should devote my time to the Historical Society and our on-going efforts to establish a county museum here,” he said.

Robertson had announced in January that he would seek election to the Council seat that will be vacated by Margaret Jackson who has decided not to seek reelection.

“I am so excited that A.C. has decided to run and he has my full and complete support,” Robertson added. English announced his intention to run on Friday as well.

“A.C. is a younger and more vigorous man and will bring great talents to the Clarendon County Council at a very important time in our history,” Robertson added.

Robertson said that though he was very committed to serving on Council, he was looking forward to spending more time traveling, fishing and being with his family.
