Raymond I. Spann
Raymond I. Spann, 78, husband of Lelia Jones Spann, died Feb. 2, 2007, at Providence Hospital, Columbia.
Born Aug. 8, 1928, in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Bossie Spann and Josephine Robinson Spann. His education was obtained in the public schools of Clarendon County. He lived in New York for 25 years and worked for Horowitz and Markowitck. He later worked for Campbell Soup and retired after 20 years of service. Upon retiring, he began his lawn care business in Manning and was in full demand. He was a member of Mount Zero Baptist Church.
Survivors besides his stepmother, Carrie Lee Spann of Manning, include one son, Raynard (Ethel) Spann of Manning; and one stepsister, Esther Briggs of Manning.
He was preceded in death by a sibling, Adeline Spann.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at Mount Zero Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry K. Presley officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Fleming and DeLaine Funeral Home of Manning was in charge of services.
