The Clarendon Scene ... as seen in Clarendon

Senator John Land and Representative Cathy Harvin address the crowd gathered at the Paxville Community Development Center last Friday morning. The Paxville CDC was awarded a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant for a new technology center. CDC Director Betty Bozier (second from left) holds the check. Rep. Murrell Smith also presented a $50,000 check from the state.   As part of the statewide “Operation Zero Tolerance,” law enforcement officers from various agencies serving Clarendon County descended upon Church Street in Manning last week seeking speeders, non-seatbelt wearers and drivers under the influence. Clarendon had 29 vehicle fatalities in 2006, and Operation Zero Tolerance is an attempt to reduce that number in 2007.
