David McWhite Sr.

David McWhite Sr., 69, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter. Born March 3, 1938, in Florence County, he was a son of the late Hartley McWhite Sr. and the late Isabella James McWhite.

He received his formal education in the public schools of Florence County and was a 1958 graduate of Wilson High School. He later moved to New Jersey and was employed by General Electric until he retired. After retirement, he relocated to South Carolina.

He will be missed by all who knew him.

Those left to grow from his love and cherish his memory are a son, David (Sherlline) McWhite Sr. of Mountain Home, Iowa; a sister; Azilee McWhite Brown of Florence; five grandchildren; Janita, Lanisia, David, Shaylene and Kimaneshia; a caretaker, Annie Faye Stukes of Summerton; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is predeceased by three brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at St. Mark Baptist Church, Silver community, with the Rev. W.J. Chandler, pastor, officiating.

Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Summerton Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
