Mary Irene Freeman Duke
Mary Irene Freeman Duke, 86, widow of David Hartwill Duke, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 27, 1921, in Timmonsville, she was a daughter of the late John Dudley and Lillie Jordan Freeman. She was a retired supervisor from Manning Manufacturing Company, and was a member of Manning First Baptist Church and the T.E.L. Sunday School Class.
Surviving are three sons, David Autry (Betty) Duke of Sumter, Paul Hartwill (Mary Anne) Duke of Manning, and Michael Bruce (Jodi) Duke of Manning; two sisters, Eunice Freeman Howell of Timmonsville, and Eula Freeman McCaskill of Cassett; a brother, George B. Freeman of Camden; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughters, Martha Ann Duke Davis and Mary Jane Duke Scott, grandsons, Randall Oren Davis and Michael Cody Duke; sisters, Elma Freeman Duke and Virginia “Sudie” Freeman Duke; and brother, Dudley William Freeman.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning with the Rev. Jerry Cottone officiating.
Burial will follow in Midway Presbyterian Church Cemetery in New Zion.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
