Wilbur Carlyle Ardis
Wilbur Carlyle Ardis, 79, widower of Dorothy Copeland Ardis, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, at his home in Manning.
Born Aug, 28, 1928, in Manning, he was a son of the late Herbert L. and Nomie Dennis Ardis. He was owner and operator of Manning Farm and Garden Shop, Inc. for 45 years, a member of Manning First Baptist Church, a United States Army veteran, a Mason, and past master of St. Peter’s Lodge No. 54AFM.
Surviving are a son, Wilbur Carlyle (Susan) Ardis Jr. of Manning; two brothers, Herman E. Ardis of Manning, and Clyde W. Ardis of Anniston, Ala.; three sisters, Vivian A. Epps of Manning, Jean A. Malone of Florence, and Mary Ann Horton of Lexington; three grandchildren, Stacy Ardis Farley, Carole Ardis Evans and Wilbur Carlyle Ardis III; and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning, with the Rev. Jerry Cottone officiating.
Burial followed in Clarendon Memorial Gardens.
