Joe Lee Jackson

Joe Lee Jackson, 59, died Jan. 28, 2007, in Manning.

Born March 1, 1947, in the Live Oak section of Manning, he was a son of the late Ingram Jackson and Edna Major Jackson. He received his formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County and was a 1966 graduate of Manning Training School. He accepted Christ as his Savior and attended Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include one daughter, Katie (Roy) Wilson of Olanta; two brothers, Johnny Lee (Nellie) Jackson of Lake City and Leroy “Hammer” Jackson; and one sister, Julia Mae Abraham of Manning.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, at the Hayes F. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel in Manning, with the Rev. George P. Windley, pastor officiating, assisted by the Rev. Henry McCray.

Burial was in the Manning Cemetery.

Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning was in charge of arrangements.
