George Manning Harrell Sr.

COLUMBIA – George Manning Harrell Sr., 76, widower of Sarah Moye Harrell, passed away Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007.

Born June 19, 1930, in Florence, he was a son of the late Albert Leslie Harrell, Sr. and the late Grace Parker Harrell. An avid gamecock fan, he attended the University of South Carolina and served in the United States Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean War. Mr. Harrell was the co-founder of The Shrimper Restaurants and resided at Lake Marion for over twenty years.

Surviving are daughter Beth (Terry) Austin, daughter, Becky Pintak, son George Manning (Sheila) Harrell Jr., and son, Joe P. Harrell, all of Columbia; sister, Annie Jo Watford of Timmonsville; brothers, Leslie Harrell, Jr. of West Palm Beach, Florida and Donnie Harrell of Trophy Club, Texas. Mr. Harrell is also survived by ten grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at Salem United Methodist Church in Timmonsville.

Memorials may be made to the 82nd Airborne Division Association Educational Fund, P. O. Box 65089, Fayetteville, N.C. 28036-5089.

Stephens Funeral Home of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
