Jerry Johnson

Jerry Johnson, 48, died Saturday morning, Jan. 26, 2008, in Manning.

He was born Nov. 5, 1959, in the Jordan section of Clarendon County, a son of Susie Mae Roberts Johnson and the late Eddie Louis Johnson. He received his formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County and graduated from Schools of Careers, Brooklyn, N.Y. He attended Eternal Hope Baptist Church, Bronx, N.Y.

He is survived by his mother, Susie Mae Roberts Johnson of Manning; three brothers, Larry Johnson of Manning, Eddie Levon (Avis) Johnson of Brooklyn and Willie Joseph (Vickie) Roberts of Memphis, Tenn.; and three sisters, Judynell Groce of New York, N.Y., Evelyn Elaine Johnson of Bronx and Doris Roberts (Joe Louis) Young of Manning.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at Manning Elementary School, with the Rev. Jonathan Mouzon presiding, the Rev. Curtis Canty, eulogist, and the Revs. O’Donald Dingle and Eddie Lesaine assisting.

Burial followed in the St. John Baptist Church cemetery, Bloomville section of Manning.

Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
