George M. White
PINEWOOD – Mr. George Morant White, 77, of Pinewood, entered eternal rest at Tuomey Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007. Born Feb. 6, 1929, he was a son of the late Sammie White and Alberta Johnson White James and the widower of Dorcus Green White.
He was educated in the schools of Clarendon County. He was a faithful member of New Hope AME Church, where he served as the chairman of the Steward Board, Pastor Steward, chairman of the Class Leader Ministry and Church Sexton. He retired from Santee Print Works of Sumter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and three sons, Earl Green, Harry L. White and Kinston White.
He leaves to cherish his memories, six sons, Mr. George White Sr. of Larton, Va., Mr. James (Jeanie) White, Rev. Cary White, both of Columbia, Mr. Alonzo White, Rev. Norman White, both of Rimini, and Rev. Shedrick (Donald) White of Pinewood; a brother, Mr. Abbie White of Baltimore, Md.; two sisters, Mrs. Lorena Robinson and Ms. Geneva White, both of Baltimore, Md.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Rosa Riley of Rimini; a loyal friend, Mrs. Martha Richburg of Summerton; 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, in the New Hope AME Church with the Rev. Nathaniel Edwards, pastor, officiating, and the Revs. Norman White, Shedrick White, Jack Dias, Josephine Gilyard, Linda Simmons and Leroy T. James.
Burial followed in the New Hope Church Cemetery.
Community Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
