J. Richard Perdue
J. Richard Perdue, 78, widower of A. Elaine Perdue, died Friday, January 26, 2007, in Tuomey Hospital in Sumter.
Born February 29, 1928, in Castlewood, Pa., he was a son of the late James and Edna Houk Perdue. He retired from Pennsylvania Power Company after 27 years of service, was past owner of Manning Motel #1, a member of the Lion’s Club, the Clarendon Golf and Country Club, the Gamecock Camping Club, and was of the Presbyterian faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Beverly Lee of Manning; four sons, Fred (Cheri) Perdue of Fredericksburg, Va., Gary (Trish) Perdue of Dallas, Texas, Bill (Amelia) Perdue of Johns Island, and Bruce (Ellen) Perdue of Goose Creek; a brother, Don Perdue of New Castle, Pa.; a sister, Edie Timblin of New Castle, Pa.; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and special friend, Bonnie Perdue.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Ralph, Ed, and Gerald Perdue.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning, with the Rev. Dr. William J. Holmes officiating.
Burial followed in Manning Cemetery.
