Accepting plaques for their departments’ efforts in curbing underage drinking were Maj. Freddie Nelson, Chief Randy Garrett and Maj. Ray Perdue. |
Clarendon Behavioral Health Services (CBHS) recognized law enforcement agencies for their efforts on enforcing underage drinking in Clarendon County at a luncheon on Jan. 9, 2007. The law enforcement agencies were tasked with implementing monthly alcohol retailer’s compliance checks and safety checkpoints. Their efforts produced the following results: 3,492 cars were stopped in which three underage drinkers were discovered, 20 citations and 20 warnings were issued during safety check points; and 130 stores were contacted during compliance checks with 13 found not in compliance.
In January of 2006, Clarendon Behavioral Health Services received funds from the S.C. Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Services (DAODAS) through an Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) grant. The funds were awarded to provide education and enforcement within Clarendon County on the issue of underage drinking.
