The Clarendon Scene ... as seen in Clarendon

CSD 2 Superintendent John Tindal, third from right, stands with faculty and staff from the Manning Primary School during presentation of the Palmetto Gold Award. The award comes from the state Dept. of Education and recognizes outstanding schools around South Carolina. It includes an award of over $6,000, a certificate (held by Primary School Principal Betty Harrington, fourth from right) and a commemorative flag.   Longtime Manning Primary teacher Debbie Thompson was given a retirement party last Friday after school. After more than decade as a gym and P.E teacher, she was given a silver platter as well as cards from students and gifts from fellow teachers. “We’ve shared so many things as a family. We’ve been together through thick and thin and we know what it means to be family,” she said. “It’s been quite a ride. Thank you so much and I love you.”
