Rosena G. Charles
Rosena Gaymon Charles, 87, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning.
Born March 20, 1920, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Lula Green Gaymon and the widow of Julius Johnson and Willie Charles.
She was educated in the public schools of Clarendon County. She was a member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Paxville. Affectionately known as “Deanie,” she passionately loved her family and was dedicated to helping others.
She was preceded in death by a son, Charlie Johnson, and three sisters, Anna Lee Jacobs, Rosa Wilder and Mary Dyson.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, a loving daughter, Dorothy C. Mathis of the home; a sister, Susana Rodgers of Columbia; a brother, Abraham Gaymon of Paxville; two grandchildren, Erica Mathis of Columbia and Kenneth Mathis of Lake Jackson, Texas; a host of nieces and nephews, whom she loved like her own children; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Jan. 1, 2008, at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Paxville with the Rev. Clifford Gaymon, pastor, officiating.
Final resting place was Calvary Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Pinewood.
Dyson’s Home for Funerals of Summerton was in charge of the arrangements.
