Roosevelt Bozier

Roosevelt “Captain B” Bozier, 86, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning.

Born March 25, 1921, in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late William and Catherine Bozier. “Rosey,” as he was affectionately called, received his formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County. He served four years in the military. After his years of honorable service he returned home, where he met and married Harristeen Lemon. He was a faithful member of Santee AME Church and worked in several capacities. He was a kind and caring person and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was predeceased by a son, Henry Bozier, and a daughter, Mary B. Livingston.

Those left to grow from his legacy of love are his loving wife, Haristeen Bozier of the home; two daughters, Lue A. (Mack) McDaniel and Celia Bozier (Baby Sis), both of Maryland; three grandchildren he reared as his own, Jeff, Rochelle and Sean, all of Maryland; five additional grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Naomi J. Bozier; a son-in-law, William Livingston; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Lemon of South Carolina and Celia Bennett of Maryland; four godchildren, Willie, Charlie, Williene and Sarah Richardson, all of Maryland; an adopted son, Leroy Nelson; a special nephew, Thomas Henderson Sr.; a special niece, Irene L. Hills; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Homegoing celebration for Mr. Bozier were held on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008. at Scott’s Branch High School gymnasium with the Rev. Silas Spann officiating.

Burial followed in the Santee AME Church cemetery.

Summerton Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
