Oree Richburg
AUGUSTA, Ga. – Oree Richburg, 62, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, in Augusta.
Born April 21, 1944, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Richburg and Estell Martin Richburg. Her education was obtained in the public schools of Clarendon County and Pace University, New York, N.Y. During her youth, she joined Elizabeth Baptist Church and was a member of the junior choir and usher board. After moving to New York, she joined St. John Baptist Church, Inwood, N.Y., where she served dutifully on the usher board. She worked for more than 25 years for the American Stock Exchange and New York Stock Exchange.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen (Sgt. 1st Class Johnny) Amos of Fort Gordon, Ga., and Andrea Denise (Frank) Drewery of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three sisters, Gladys Bowman and Theo Cameron, both of Manning, and Elouise Davis of Jersey City, N.J.; nine grandchildren; one aunt, Ethel Martin of Baltimore, Md.; and one sister-in-law, Florence Richburg of Bishopville.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Benjamin and Oliver Richburg; and one sister, Rovena Davis.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at Elizabeth Baptist Church, Manning, with the Revs. Ashley B. Vaughn and George Pugh officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Fleming and DeLaine Funeral Home of Manning was in charge of services.
