Easter McKnight

Easter Virginia Stukes McKnight, 74, widow of John Wesley McKnight, died Dec. 28, 2006, at Regency Hospital, Florence.

Born Sept. 3, 1932, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Stukes and Mary Liza Montgomery Stukes. She received her education in the public schools of Clarendon County. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Savior and joined Laurel Hill AME Church.

Survivors include two sons, John Edward McKnight of Miami, Fla., and Willie Lee McKnight of Davis Station; five daughters, Deloris (Alfred) Holliday of Severn, Md., Alma Ruth (Dennis) Mull of Buffalo, N.Y., Inez (Wayne) Newman of Woodlawn, Md., Alma Williams of Miami, and Barbara McKnight of Davis Station; one sister, Annie Bell Carter of Davis Station; 24 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one grandson.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at Laurel Hill AME Church, MW Rickenbaker Road, Davis Station, with the Rev. Ronnie Brown, pastor, officiating.

Burial was in Ivory cemetery.

Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning was in charge of arrangements.
