Bobby Wells

Bobby Wells died at 10:40 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center after an illness.

He was born June 17, 1954, in Clarendon County, the eighth of nine children born to proud parents Lurie Tomlin Wells and the late Boston Wells. Bobby Wells attended the public schools of Clarendon County. He was employed by Korn Industries of Sumter. He was a proud employee for 19 years until his health failed. He was married to Emma Isaac Wells in 1994.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Emma Isaac Wells of the home; his mother, Lurie Tomlin Wells; his son, Taurus (Denise) Stephens of Sumter; four granddaughters; three brothers, Roosevelt Wells of Alcolu, Charles E. (Ada Mae) Wells of Sumter and Billy (Louise) Wells of Columbia; five sisters, Lou Ida (Woodro) Daniels and Betty (Lawrence) Canty, all of Alcolu, Etta Jean Masheck of Norwalk, Conn., Geraldine (Nelson) Stallworth of Bridgeport, Conn., and Mary (Lewis) Mendes of Santee; a sister-in-law, Ollie Mae McBride of Sumter; three brothers-in-law, Richard McBride, Omie McBride and Eric McDonald of Sumter; five aunts; two uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends who are deeply grieved by his passing.

He was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Clarence Taylor.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at Westminister Presbyterian Church in Alcolu, with the pastor, the Rev. Dr. Ella F. Busby, officiating.

Interment followed in the Westminister Church cemetery.
